I Want To Improve Conditions At Akuse Prisons - Atubiga

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, Stephen Atubiga has told Citi News, he will use his influence to help improve the conditions at the Akuse prisons. Mr. Atubiga was on Tuesday sentenced to three days in prison by the Supreme Court for making contemptuous statements against the panel of judges presiding over the ongoing hearing of the Election Petition case. He mentioned that he will set up a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) to champion this course. Speaking on Eyewitness News day after he was set free, Mr. Atubiga noted that the conditions in the Akuse prisons are appalling and must be improved. The first thing Im doing right now is raise resources because they need a polytank so that the water will flow in at the bathrooms, so that they could flush at the female sideat least certain things that we could donate. He appealed to civil society groups and the general public to help his noble cause because its not going to be Stephen taking the money; no, I want all of you. If you receive a dime, we will make sure we are donating it to Akuse prisons.
