We Will Prevent Ken Kuranchie From Bleaching In Prison

The deputy PRO of the Ghana Prisons Service, Francis Agyirey-Kwakye, has denied meting out inhuman treatment on Ken Kuranchie. His remarks emanate from the various comments making rounds about the monstrous handling of Mr. Kuranchie in prison. The editor of the Daily Searchlight, Mr. Ken Kuranchie was sentenced to 10 days imprisonment, after being found guilty of criminal contempt by the Supreme Court. He was said to have embarked on prison tour after his sentence and subjected to inhuman treatment by the prison officers. Friends and sympathizers of Mr. Kuranchie have also been prevented from visiting him and his wife is on record to have demanded for the whereabouts of her husband. But speaking in an interview with Okay FM, ASP Francis Agyirey- Kwakye shot down all the talks about the inhuman treatment being meted out to Kuranchie. The deputy PRO of the Ghana Prisons Service claimed that it is pointlessness to subject Mr. Kuranchie to torture and would rather focus on preventing him and other inmates from using bleaching creams in the prison since it is a violation there. He stated that Mr. Kuranchie was properly catered for and was given the liberty to enjoy life as all prisoners are entitled to. In line with the international act, we gave him the chance to call his wife to inform him where he had been kept, he noted. He called on the sympathizers of Mr. Kuranchie to exercise a bit of restraint and not to superimpose their will on officials of the prison service.
