We Are Not On Strike - Govt Communicators

Some members of governments communication team have denied reports that they have embarked on an indefinite strike. Media reports on Tuesday reported that members of governments communication team were planning to withdraw their services over what they described as neglect from the government. Speaking to Citi News, one of the communicators, Chris Akumey stressed that the reports were false because they (communicators) had no payment contract with the government. I am a government communicator and it does not make me a government official. I and my colleagues are not supposed to be paid for the work we do. We are only helping the NDC party in power, he stated. Mr. Akumey further mentioned: We are not on any remuneration to the extent that if the salaries stop coming or is not good enough, then we will say we are going on strike; no. it is neither here nor there. Anytime you decide as a communicator for one reason or the other to stop communicating, it is for you to decide whether to continue or discontinue because you are not appointed into that position. It is an election by yourself by virtue of the membership and loyalty to the party, he added.
