Mills� One Year Anniversary Has To Be �A National Affair�

Spokesperson for the Planning Committee set up to organize the one year anniversary of the late President John Evans Atta Mills; Mr. Kofi Nyantakyi has called on Ghanaians to fully commit themselves to participating in the entire event. Speaking to Radio Gold on Tuesday, Mr Nyantakyi appealed to the citizenry to replicate the attitude and zeal they exhibited during the funeral of the late President. �We are looking at this one year to have a befitting farewell for His Excellency the late President John Evans Atta Mills. It has to be a national affair�We want everybody to be there whether by invitation or so to celebrate the life of President Mills.� The Planning Committee set up by President John Dramani Mahama released statement a couple of hours ago outlining the activities that will take place to highlight the ceremony. Chairman of the Planning Committee, Kofi Totobi Quakyi recounted that the anniversary will begin on July 21 and end on July 28, 2013. Several dignitaries within the country and outside will grace the ceremony. The ceremony will commence with a choral concert at the National Theatre, Accra to mark the 69th birthday of the late President and end with a non-denominational church service at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast. A public lecture will also be held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Monday, 22nd July in memory of the late President. The lecture is intended to touch on the values of the late President. �Obviously, it would not deviate too far away from his belief in peace, his belief in togetherness, his belief in tolerance, his belief in being your brother�s keeper,� the Spokesperson disclosed.
