Police arrest student in connection with murder

The police have arrested a 19-year-old senior high school student in connection with the May 20 murder of a private security man at Ashfood Court Hotel at Bantama in Kumasi. Alex Fosu alias �Paa � D�crime� was picked at Kasoa in the Central Region, where he had gone to hide. His arrest brings to three, the number of suspects now being held by the police. Prince Adu-Gyamfi alias �Owuraku� and George Anaba had earlier been arrested at different locations. They are believed to be part of a robbery gang that shot and killed Joe Adusah Eyison during a failed attempt to rob guests of the hotel. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Augustine Gyening, Ashanti Regional Commander, said Fosu, who registered for the just ended West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination could not write the examination because of the alleged crime. He said the suspect would be put before court soon. DCOP Gyening said police investigations had established that the gang was behind a number of robberies in the Kumasi Metropolis and the Atwima-Nwabiagya District. Two locally manufactured pistols, 11 live cartridges and a mask had been retrieved from them. Also recovered, are laptop computers, I-pad and cellular phones seized from their victims. DCOP Gyening reiterated the determination of the police to go after criminals and bring them to justice to assure law abiding citizens of their safety.
