Ken Kuranchie Joins "Privileged Class Of Prison Graduates"

Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former Member of Parliament for Asokwa in the Ashanti Region has stated that the Editor of the Daily searchlight Newspaper, who was released on Thursday after serving a ten day jail term for contempt, has joined a privileged class of Ghanaians who went to prison for what they believed in. In his view, Ken Kuranchie has joined his privileged group of prison graduates and believes he is a hero who needs to be celebrated by all Ghanaians. According to him, it is an exulted position in Ghana because Kwame Nkrumah, my own father who gave birth to me, Kwesi Pratt, Kweku Baako, Kofi Koomson and many others were jailed and therefore belong to that club, which is now becoming a prestige. Hon. kofi Jumah further pleaded with Ghanaians to accept Ken Kuranchie as a member of the elite group and therefore accord him the respect and reverence, Kwesi Pratt and Kweku Baako have enjoyed over the years. He made these comments on Adom FM, hours after Ken Kuranchie was released from prison. Mr. Kuranchie was sentence to ten days behind bars after publishing comments regarding the ongoing election petition trial in the Daily Searchlight Newspaper, which the Supreme Court deemed presumptuous. He claims not to have regretted his action saying his conscience is clear and hinted he will consult with his lawyers and if possible, seek redress because he was not treated fairly by the apex court of the land.
