Women, Don�t Give Up On Your Dreams � Miss Ghana-USA

Winner of Miss Ghana-USA 2013, Miss Efua Osei, has admonished the nation's youth to pursue their dreams despite some of the challenges associated with excelling in a male dominated professions. According to her, though �many people are afraid to take risks, it�s really important to understand that sometimes you need to take risk by starting at the bottom. When I think about me, I interned at so many places. I worked for free for so long and although it can be very challenging not having money on you, you still need to work for free because the experience; having other people know and see that you are committed, helps you move forward.� Speaking to citifmonline.com the beauty queen stated that �having your passion and putting everything that you can into it and being willing and able to start at the bottom is what it takes to build up.� According to her, internship was necessary to get one prepared when there were opportunities available. �You really need to think and reflect on who you are as a person and what your passion is, as well as what inspires and what motivates you,� she added. Meanwhile, Miss Osei who is in the country for a few weeks in collaboration with Next Wave, launched the first ever Innovation Fridays, a networking event for young professional women. The event saw the birth of a business pitch competition for female entrepreneurs in Ghana. According to her, the competition would help raise funds for the winners of the competition who would be assisted financially to aid them in pursuing their dreams. The business plan competition would bring together investors and advisers in the business community to judge the presentations of young women who have a good business plan to pursue. According to her, she plans to use the title as a way to host fund raising events both in the US and Ghana. �The competition is to equip young people with great skills the ability to put together good presentations, be able to improve upon their confidence and public speaking skills� she added. Applications are however open to anyone with a good business idea or an emerging business.
