What Is Wrong With A Man Of God Admonishing Us To Pray To Avert Calamity?

Member of Parliament for Berekum East constituency, Hon. Dr. Kwabena Twum Nuamah has urged Ghanaians to treat the admonition by the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Dr. Mensah Otabil, to Ghanaians to wake up and pray because he senses something ominous befalling the nation with the gravity it deserves. Contributing to a discussion programme on Oman FM, he warned the citizenry to refrain from hurling invectives on him (Dr. Mensah Otabil) and rather pay attention to the substance of his remarks. Dr. Mensah Otabil, delivering a sermon in church last Sunday cautioned his congregants to pray for the nation because he could feel a sense of heaviness in his spirit concerning the destiny of this country that there is something heavy ready to fall upon this country that if we dont take charge, we will be in a different state a month from now. He called on Christians across the nation to take cue from Elijah in the Bible who prayed fervently for the fate of his country and made certain declarations to avert the calamity that could have befallen the nation. We need to take note that Elijah was just like us and he came from Tishbi, which is a village not found on any map till date but because he prayed earnestly he was able to make a declaration about the destiny of his country and his declaration shaped the destiny of his country, he said. Following the remarks by the man of God, certain critics emerged putting political colours on his sense of heaviness. But according to Dr. Twum Nuamah, Dr. Mensah Otabils admonition should create an opportunity for the country to revise its activities and particularly with reference to the election petition in court. To him, Ghanaians should be grateful for the warning from the ICGC General Overseer. Assuming that it is not even true that he has seen anything but if we are praying to avert any consequences on the nation, what is wrong with it? But if he has seen and said it to raise awareness, what crime has he committed? he asked, stressing that its just a wakeup call on us. We have to be grateful to him for allowing himself to be used by God to remind us. And in fact, I dont see why he should be attacked because he did not make that remark on the ticket of any political party.
