Police Assures: No Fear And Panic After Election Petition Final Judgement

Prior to the conclusion of the ongoing 2012 Election Petition filed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the President and the Electoral Commission (EC), the nine panel judges presided by Justice William Atuguba in some months time will read out the final verdict to see the faith of both the petitioners and the respondents. Some Ghanaians and politicians are of a view that if the final verdict goes in-favour of the petitioners who are now in opposition, the country will be in the state of pandemonium. Recently, some renowned men of God, including the General Overseer of the Action Christian Faith Ministries, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams; Founder and leader of Glorious Word Ministry International, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah and the General Overseer of the International Gospel Church, Dr. Mensah Otabil have also hinted a turmoil in a months time and have called on Ghanaians to never cease from praying for mother Ghana. These revelations and prophecies have raised much brouhaha in the media while some Ghanaians are in Fear and Panic seeking for hide outs before the final verdict of the 2012 Election Petition is declared. But speaking with a Accra-based Adom FM, Director of the Police Public Affairs, DSP Cephas Arthur has urged Ghanaians not to live in fear and panic but everyone should judge the revelations and prophecies on their own understanding. Nonetheless, DSP Cephas Arthur assured the police readiness to protect citizens as well as combatting any group or individuals who will spur any bedlam. Based upon what we (the police) have heard, and what people are saying and situation now, we (the police) are well prepared. I cannot single out what is likely to happen but we must all be cautious about our utterances. We must all fight for peace and not chaos, he advised. Adding, We must all pray that all what people are saying about the aftermath of the election petition final judgement will not come to pass. They (Pastors) have prophesied, its our duty to pray to sojourn this from happening. There is not fear and panic.
