Okudzeto Is A Disgrace - NDC Communicator

The statement made by Lawyer Sam Okudzeto at the National Peace Summit under the auspices of the National Peace Council in his quest to educate the public on the proceedings in court, has irritated a member of the Communication Team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Mohammed Naziru, saying that civil society groups and opinion leaders have become more political that politicians. The former President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Mr. Sam Okudzeto, speaking at the summit a few days ago on the hearing of the election petition and the verdict of the Supreme Court, indicated that the court will give the final verdict on August 15, 2013, but was quick to note that there will be no review as the court is the highest in the land. But Speaking on Okay fm, the NDC communicator pontificated that the submission by the astute lawyer, has clearly demonstrated that he is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who has chosen to champion the cause of his party on a national platform where peace and not partisan politics is suppose to be anchored. He further called on the Supreme Court to haul lawyer Okudzeto for his contemptuous statement; adding that he has no right to say that there can be no review of the case when the final verdict comes out because the Supreme Court has ruled the 2012 election petition to be a special case which review can be done after a member of the PNC, Bernard Monah sought clarification on the status of CI 74. He described the legal luminary as being a disgrace to Ghana Bar Association (GBA) and to the profession as a lawyer because he gave one-sided view to his presentation when he reportedly called on President Mahama to accept the verdict if the Supreme Court rules against him; leaving out Nana Akufo-Addo in his statement. According to him, the body which invited the former President of the Ghana Bar Association to speak at the summit has been disgraced as well; in that he came to the national summit to show his political colors rather than giving a message of peace. He averred that elders like Okudzeto who go contrary to the laws of the land need to bow down their heads in shame.
