Let�s Seek God�s Face On National Challenges �Moderator

The Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has advised Christians to seek the spirit of God to overcome challenges of modern society. He emphasized that it is only through God�s Spirit that anything of lasting value can be accomplish. Rt Rev Prof Martey gave the advice when he opened the 2013 biennial conference of the Minister�s spouses of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, at the Sunyani Polytechnic at the weekend. The four-day conference, being attended by more than 600 spouses of the church, is on the theme �the Holy Spirit in the Manse�. Rt Rev Prof Martey noted that the church and contemporary society faced enormous challenges and needed the �Spirit of God to overcome�. He explained that the Holy Spirit is still at work as in the Bible days, and it behoves on Christians to earnestly desire spiritual gifts and allow their lives to be touched. The Presbyterian Moderator stressed that as spouses, Christian women are co-workers in the vineyard of the Lord and advised them to show dedication to duty, hospitality and maintained well matured Christian homes. �As you live as minister�s spouses, determine not to trust in your won strength or abilities, but instead depend on God and work in the power of his spirit�, Rt Rev Prof Martey told the conference. Mrs. Rosekel Omenyo, President of the Ministers Spouses, explained that the conference, aimed at bringing together all spouses within the Presbyterian Church to strategize to effectively play their respective and complementary roles as partners. She emphasized that the role of the minister�s spouse should primarily be supportive to her husband and entreated the women to ensure that their behaviour should be above that which is depicted by the average family. Mrs. Rosekel appealed to all presbytery chairpersons to sponsor at least one training programme for spouses in their presbyteries very year. Mr. Justice Samuel Adjei, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister urged the church, especially ministers to use the pulpit to explain government policies in education, health, tourism, trade and taxation, so that they could bear with the government in its quest to construct a better Ghana. He admonished Christians to pursue the path of peaceful co-existence with their neighbours, irrespective of race, creed or political affiliation for national stability. Mr. Adjei commended churches in the country for demonstrating true and reliable partners of government in efforts to improve the standard of life of the people. The ceremony was chaired by Rev Kwadwo Owusu Sarpong, Brong-Ahafo Presbytery Chairperson.
