Dces Urged To Desist From Displaying Power

Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Volta Regional Minister, on Wednesday urged Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) to desist from displaying power and arrogance. He said instead, they should exhibit humility, respect and conduct themselves appropriately to uphold the integrity of government. Mr Afotey Agbo gave the advice at a short meeting with newly confirmed DCEs and old ones in the Volta Region in Ho. The occasion was also used to present instrument of office to Mr James Gunu, District Chief Executive of Akatsi North. Mr Afotey Agbo asked the DCEs not to become problems for the assemblies but help solve problems as political heads. He specifically charged the DCEs to respect chiefs in the districts and involve them in decision making and development of their areas. You must shun divide and rule tactics and involve all stakeholders in taking critical decisions in your districts, Mr Agbo urged. He urged them to find innovative ways to enhance internally generated funds and use the funds judiciously to win the confidence of the people. Mr Agbo asked them to be abreast with local government and procurement laws to avoid unnecessary conflicts with their staff. Mr Gunu on behalf of the DCEs gave the assurance that the DCEs would conduct themselves professionally to uphold the integrity of the government.
