Minister Turns Goal Keeper

DEPUTY YOUTH and Sports Minister Joseph Yammin displayed amazing goalkeeping skills at the Ridge Park in Kumasi, to the admiration of soccer fans, on Sunday morning. The minister kept the post for the Ridge Keep Fit Club who faced Roots Keep Fit Club in the opening soccer match of the Ashanti Regional Keep Fit Clubs Association bi-annual games. Hon. Yammins performance on the day, especially the dangerous saves he made in the game, came as a great surprise to soccer fans including the KMA Boss, Kojo Bonsu. However despite his brilliant display, the minister was eventually beaten by a tailor-measured free kick in the second half to cancel an early goal scored by Alberto of Ridge Keep Fit Club. The participating teams are competing for honours in games such as soccer, volleyball, draughts and cards. The competition would be played from August to November when the grand finale would take place. Sponsored by Boris B. Farms, the competition is among other things geared towards fostering unity among the participating keep fit clubs and promoting sports in the country. Hon. Yammin, opening the games, tasked Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of exercising always in order to stay fit and healthy, urging the keep fit clubs to put in place mechanisms to attract more people into their midst. The participating teams included Martyrs, Bremang, Kwadaso Estate, Ridge, Prempeh, Complex, Owass, On the Run and WESCO keep fit clubs.
