Sir John Might Escape Jail Sentence But Might Lose His License As A Lawyer

A renowned Legal Practitioner, Lawyer Morris Ampaw has hinted that embattled General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie might end his profession as a practicing lawyer if found guilty for his alleged contemptuous statement. He describes the NPP bigwig case as very serious because as a lawyer your utterances on issues before the court must be precise so as not to be cited for contempt. Speaking on Adom FM, Lawyer Ampaw said that, Sir Johns choice of words he used are unjustifiable and might face a jail sentence or his license as a lawyer will be drawn back from him and might as well be penalized by the Ghana BAR Association. Sir Johns issue is a very serious case because he is a lawyer and as a lawyer his case will be tough. If he (Sir John) do not defend himself well and justify his contemptuous statement, he will be likely to go to jail and after from that, the nine panel judges presided by Justice William Atuguba can order for his license to be withdrawn. he (Sir John) can also be suspended or his name will be canceled as a lawyer. His case is really serious so he needs us all to pray for him, he noted. The Supreme Court hearing the 2012 Election Petition summoned the NPPs Chief Scribe, and another communications team member, Hopeson Adorye for comment they both made on radio which the court believes is contemptuous.
