Youth Urged To Study Their Customs

Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, Paramount Chief of the Osu Traditional Area, has urged the youth to under-study their elders with respect to their customs and traditions. These are the things the youth should learn from the elders. For when customs and traditions are lost the people are doomed, he said. Nii Kinka Dowuona gave the advice at a homecoming ceremony to usher in the Homowo festivities of the chiefs and people of Osu in the Greater Accra Region on Monday. The homecoming is an annual custom in which all communities in the traditional area provide food items to the Osu Royal House as their contributions to herald in the celebration of the festival. Nii Kinka Dowuona said: Today I am happy to see the young ones actively participating in this custom together with the old ones and it is a good sign. This really falls within our Motto Peace, Education and Development. We need not to leave these customs and traditions, but to protect them for our future generations. He called on the people to support him to develop Osu, saying my oaths that I swore to you during my enstoolment I still stand by them and I am calling on you too not to turn your back against me, but rather assist me to bring development to Osu. As part of the celebrations the Osu Traditional Council had organized a free health screening for the people.
