Waris Returns For Ghana-Zambia Game

Russia-based striker Abdul Majeed Waris looks set to make a return to the Black Stars for next months 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia. The 21-year old has been out of the Stars team since March after sustaining an injury weeks after making a move from Russian side Spartak Moscow to Swedish outfit, BK Hacken. GNA Sports is reliably informed that Stars coach Kwasi Appiah has been following the progress of the player upon his recovery three weeks ago and set to hand him a place in the squad. Warris will be expected to provide option for attack, where captain Asamoah Gyan remains the godfather for the crucial encounter against the Chipolopolo. He was named amongst the substitutes for last Sundays Russian Premier League encounter with Kuban Krasnodar barren. The striker has yet to feature for his club in the five-week old Russian League, but with the departure of Nigerian forward Emmanuel Emenike for Turkish side Fenerbahce; he may soon get his chance. The Right to Dream Academy product capped his home debut with a goal as Ghana beat Sudan 3-0 in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium earlier in the year. Warris won the Golden Boot with BK Hacken last season after scoring 25 goals in all competitions.
