Ms Bisharu Pelpuo, Miss Road Safety 2012, has advised the youth to desist from browsing the internet on their mobile phones when walking along the road to help reduce road accidents. She explained that, by browsing on the phone, many people lose concentration on other events happening around them �which could result in one getting knocked down by a vehicle.� Ms Pelpuo gave the advice when she joined members of the Eastern Regional Keep-fit Clubs Association, the Police and the Fire Service to mount a road show on the Akuapem Ridge to create road safety awareness at the weekend. The road show, organized under the theme, �Road safety: a shared and collective responsibility,� formed part of the activities to mark the second annual games of the Eastern Region Keep-fit Clubs Association. Ms Pelpuo said ensuring road safety did not depend only on the drivers but also all road users and therefore advised that road users should pay much attention when using the road. Mr David Ohene, Training Officer at the Mampong-Akuapem Fire Station, appealed to the people who volunteer to assist victims when road accidents occur to desist from looting their property. Nana Danso Mariano, Krontihene of Obosomase and a patron of the keep-fit clubs, appealed to the Fire Service to intensify its education on the use of liquefied petroleum gas by drivers.
