The 2012 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and chief petitioner of the pending electoral case at the Supreme Court has promised to continue to fight for the enhancement of law in the country. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo was addressing party faithful and representatives of the other political parties the 21st anniversary of the NPP at its headquarters in Accra yesterday. Nana said Ghana was a very peaceful country, therefore; all what was left was for the citizens to maintain the peace and resilience it had built over the years. �The rule of the law is very vital for the socio-economic development of any country which wants prosperity�, he said adding that it was only prudent that as a leader of a very large political party, he preached the need for peace for development. Nana Addo in addressing his party supporters and some representatives of the other political parties threw a challenge to all other political parties disregard differences and co-habit as one people. Nana Addo, who is hoping of a favourable verdict from the Supreme Court nonetheless appealed to members of the NPP not to see their political opponents as enemies and called for love among all Ghanaians. Flaunting his party�s promotion of the rule of law in the country,Akufo Addo said the rule of law has been the tradition of the party since the formation of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), a party the NPP as its parent. Nana Akufo-Addo extolled members of the Dankwa/Busia/ Dombo tradition, from which the NPP emerged, for their respect for the rule of law and for human rights in the country and urged them to continue with the good fight. He did not forget former President John Agyekum Kufuor whom he described as the best president Ghana had ever had since the inception of the 4th Republic. The chairman of the party Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, giving his address was positive that the 21st anniversary celebration was a confirmation of the values the NPP stood for. �It also serves as a moment to reflect on how far the party has come, challenges we face and where we are going�, he said, while calling on the leadership of the party to ensure that the yearly celebration of the party�s birthday was marked in all the offices of the party across the country. Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu appealed to his party members to be calm and be prayerful as the nation awaited eagerly, the verdict of the Supreme Court in the 2012 presidential election petition. Also present at the event were the National Chairman of NDC, Dr Kwabena Adjei and his General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Asiedu-Nketia as well as Mrs. Anita de Souza, National Women�s Organiser. Chairman Dr Kwabena Agyei called on all Ghanaians to put the interest of the country first in all their endeavours, while making an appeal to members of the NDC and the NPP not to see each other as enemies �because the leadership of the two parties are on good terms with each other�.
