Tsatsu Tsikata Must Better Shut Up- NPP Youth Wing Warns

The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party is deeply incensed by certain scandalous statements purported to have come from some leading members and the lead counsel of the National Democratic Congress in the aftermath of the Supreme Court Verdict on August, 29th 2013. Tsatsu Tsikata, a man convicted for aiding and abetting the looting of public funds and for willfully causing financial loss to the state, speaking on a TV3 talk show programme dubbed Hot Issues descended heavily on JSC Anim Yeboah and accused him of assuming a partisan judicial posture throughout the duration of the trial. He further stated that his bias towards the 1st and 3rd respondents is as a result of his allegiance to the NPP since he was appointed by the Kuffuor administration. In a related development, Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur described the filing of the Petition and the subsequent trial as unnecessary and a total waste of time. He further questioned why the Supreme Court did not unanimously dismiss all the reliefs sought by the Petitioners. Johnson Asiedu Nketsia, the General Secretary of the NDC also stated on OK FM (an Accra based Radio Station), that the petition was a waste of time and that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo therefore does not deserve any commendation. The Youth Wing of NPP wishes to register its disappointment with the reckless and highly irresponsible statements emanating from people who should have known better. While we find Tsatsus analysis to be puerile, infantile, logically poor and clothed in partisan fanatism, there are still a number of issues that beg for clarification in the interest of our young democracy and the security of the State. To begin with, Anim Yeboah is being singled out and accused of clear bias because the erstwhile Kuffour administration appointed him. Can we by extension of Tsatsus jaundiced logic say that, JSC Atuguba, Gbadegbe, Adinyira and Akoto-Bamfo dismissed all the claims of the Petitioners because they were appointed by the NDC government and that they are loyalists and beneficiaries of the NDCs largesse? Isnt it a fact that JSC Anim Yeboah who is being accused of clear bias dismissed three out of the six reliefs being sought by the Petitioners? Were there not several instances during the trial when JSC Atuguba was the only one who dissented on rulings in favour of the Petitioners? Isnt this a calculated attempt by the NDC to cause disaffection and create public hatred against JSC Anim Yeboah by pitching him against the hawks in the NDC? Is Tsatsu Tsikata privy to what is in the final judgment of the Supreme Court based on which he is criticizing JSC Anim Yeboah? Arent these statements attributed to Tsatsu Tsikata and Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur contemptuous and have the potential to threaten our peace? The hypocrisy of Kwesi Pratt, NDCs praise singer, was once again on display. After urging everyone to wait for the written judgment before commenting, he then turns around and grants Tsatsu Tsikata the platform to make those unsavoury comments thereby vilifying the Supreme Court Justice? The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party is therefore asking the National Peace Council, Council of Chiefs, the Christian Council and other responsible Institutions and opinion leaders to condemn these divisive and ethnocentric comments. Their continued silence on the issues is not in the best interest of the Country. We are aware that these unnecessary vilifications are meant to sway attentions from the economic and social quagmire the Youth of this country has been plunged into. Institutional corruption, Youth unemployment, high school fees and hunger are rife in Mahamas government and yet cacophonous voices are seeking for political equalizations. Such diversionary tactics will no longer be tolerated in our body politik. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the 1st Petitioner has admonished the rank and file of the Party to unite and accept the verdict in the interest of the Country. This selfless act has won him many admirations, local and international and has cemented his status as a true Statesman.
