The Adenta Constituency in Greater Accra Region is the first constituency in the country to be hooked on Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras to beef up security in the area.
That history was made possible by the Member of Parliament of the area, Mr. Emmanuel Nii Ashie-Moore, who has fulfilled his campaign promises of ensuring security in the constituency.
Mr. Ashie-Moore has procured 18 cameras that would be fixed at vantage points and monitored by the Adenta police, Fire Service, operators of Adenta Shopping Mall and from the SSNIT hospital in the area.
The cameras were procured at the cost of GH₵22, 000 and except any last minute hitch; the laudable security project would be launched at the Adenta Shopping Mall.
In addition to that Mr. Ashie-Moore would offer a set of furniture, polytank, computers and signposts to the Adenta police today at the ceremony.
Apart from that, the MP would give 10 mattresses, Public Address System and printer to the Adenta fire service.
According to the MP, his move is geared towards better security within the constituency.
�What is interesting is the fact that the cameras could monitor the inmates in the police cell,� he said. He told The Enquirer newspaper that the police and other security agents would be hooked onto the internet for easy communication.
The affable MP said security issues were high during his campaign and could therefore not afford to disappoint the people.
�Security in the constituency will continue to receive attention because it is only when people are secured that they can go about their daily activities without fear�, he said.
