A chain of 15-stores at Kokote in the Offinso Municipality had been ravaged by fire, resulting in the destruction of a large quantity of merchandize. The swift response of fire-fighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) prevented the blaze from spreading to cause more havoc. Nobody was hurt and items destroyed included bags of rice, electrical appliances, cosmetics, building materials and fabrics, edible oil, sugar and furniture. Mr Daniel Osei, one of the victims, said the cause was yet to be established but he suspected an electrical fault.
