We Must Resist Illegal Police Ban On Demo Ken Kuranchie

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kenneth Kuranchie, has called on Ghanaians not to accept the practice whereby the Ghana Police Service places a ban on demonstrations across the country without any legal backing. Mr. Kuranchies comments come in the wake of the Progressive People's Partys (PPP) decision to go to court to reverse a court order preventing the party from embarking on a demonstration against corruption in the country. Speaking on Citi FMs news analysis programme the The Big Issue, Mr. Kuranchie who is also the Editor of the Daily Searchlight opined that the Police had no right to place a ban on demonstrations with no legal backing. They are supposed to be lawful agents so if you are imposing a ban, it must come from a legal base and when you are lifting a ban it must come from a legal base. According to him, the excuse of lack of Police personnel to accompany demonstrators is unacceptable, saying, so they cannot police a 100 demonstrators, we cannot police 10 demonstrators?
