I'm Not Interested In Leading NDC In 2016 - Spio-Garbrah

A leading member of the National Democratic Congress, Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has denied media reports that he is preparing to contest the flagbearership slot of the party ahead of the 2016 elections. A statement signed by Kweku Ampah, spokesperson of the Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah, stated that Dr Spio-Garbrah wishes it to be known, especially by NDC members and supporters, that he is not involved in any campaigns and not testing the waters for a leadership contest in 2016. Below is the full statement Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah Denies Involvement in 2016 NDC Race The attention of Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has been drawn to recent media reports and speculation regarding a possible NDC leadership race in 2016, in which his name has been mentioned. Indeed, The Statesman, which is recognized as an openly pro-NPP newspaper, has described him as making feverish preparations to contest the NDC leadership in 2016. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Dr Spio-Garbrah wishes it to be known, especially by NDC members and supporters, that he is not involved in any campaigns and not testing the waters for a leadership contest in 2016. The Statesman should provide any evidence that Dr Spio-Garbrah or any of his admirers have been touring the country, meeting opinion leaders, calling meetings, raising funds, assembling campaign workers, or issuing any statements that could potentially be described as feverish preparations for a political context. The general public may wish to note that Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has not recently been in Ghana to be making feverish preparations for anything. He is currently on a long-term overseas advisory assignment for an international organisation. In the last two years, most Ghanaians are aware that he has been working with Bishops and Pastors at Action Chapel Intl, as its CEO, to pray for peace and stability in Ghana and for the success of the Government of President Mahama. Many other Ghanaians may recall that he has also been active as President of Dominion University College in helping to build that new institution. Those in Government and the Flagstaff House may be aware of several private and public initiatives he has undertaken to support the Better Ghana Agenda of President Mahama. Only recently, for example, Dr Spio-Garbrahwith the full support of President Mahamalaunched a Directory of Scholarships and Financial Assistance to assist parents who need financial support for their childrens education, as well as to aid the youth who wish to improve themselves. Based on these facts of his recent and current pre-occupations, it is clear that the speculations about Dr Spio-Garbrahs alleged political activities are false and inaccurate and without any foundations. Dr Spio-Garbrah wishes to encourage all NDC members and Ghanaians in general to support the efforts of President Mahama and the NDC Government, so that the many problems many Ghanaians complain aboutinadequate jobs, education, health, power, water, sanitation, roads, etccan be solved sooner than later.
