Seth Sekyere Commits Suicide (Photo)

RESIDENTS OF NEWTOWN, a suburb of Ashaiman were last Sunday thrown into shock when a taxi driver in his early 30s was found hanging in his bedroom. The cabbie named Seth Sekyere, had apparently committed suicide by hanging himself with a nylon sponge on his ceiling fan. The lifeless body, dressed only in his underpants, was found hanging from the noose of the rope with a coffee table close to his feet, deepening the suspicion that he indeed committed suicide. Prior to his death, he was said to have hinted at committing suicide because he felt life had not been good to him. His Hyundai Elantra taxi cab with registration number GT 6755-13 was parked behind the room in which the unfortunate incident occurred. A tenant who discovered Sekyeres lifeless body told Daily Guide GUIDE that he woke up around 6:30 am in search of Seth to help him start his vehicle when he spotted the deceased hanging in the room. According to him, I knocked several times at his door but there was no response so I turn his locker and I realized his door was not locked. As a friend, I entered the room and saw him hanging. I was shocked and immediately raised an alarm which attracted other tenants and the landlady to the room. He described Seth as the reserved type whose only complaint was about his taxi cab giving him problems and life not treating him well. He noted that his suicide came as a surprise not only to him but all the residents of the area who knew him. When DAILY GUIDE arrived at the scene, several friends and residents in the area and its environs thronged to the scene to take a peek at the deceased. At the time of leaving the scene, police personnel from the Community 22 Police Station, were preparing to visit the scene to commence investigations into the tragic incident. Hon John Dacosta, the Assembly Member of the Nii Amui Electoral Area described the incident as regrettable.
