The General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has stated that Greater Accra Regional Chairman, who went public saying that he will do everything within his power to ensure that President John Mahama is not challenged in the party�s primary, has been called to order. General Mosquito as he is affectionately called, was responding to a question by sit-in-host of Radio Gold�s Morning Show programme, Obuobia Darkoa Opoku, that the party was going contrary to its Constitution after news broke that Joseph Ade Coker, insisted that he will resist any attempt by any individual of the party to contest Mr. Mahama. Mr Coker�s comment was received with sharp condemnations as the Deputy General Secretary, George Lawson described it as �infantile and irresponsible,� which was intended to divert attention of the NDC government from fulfilling its promises to Ghanaians. Last week, the Minister for Information and Media Relation, Mahama Ayariga stated on an Accra based Joy FM�s news analysis programme, Newsfile that �it is clear that John Dramani Mahama will be our Candidate� for the 2016 elections. �The issue is, who will emerge from the NPP to face President John Mahama and I�m telling them that, instead of focusing on the personalities, they should rather look at the delivery of John Dramani Mahama and that should tell them who they should put up, because Ghanaians are looking for a president who is delivering and President Mahama will deliver. He�s been working on it and he will deliver. Once he delivers, that will define their candidate and the issues of their candidate�. But Mr Nketia assured the party�s supporters that they will not break the rules of the game to make anybody the automatic choice. Asked, as to why the NDC has failed to celebrate the Supreme Court verdict weeks after President Mahama was declared the �validly elected� winner of the 2012 general elections, Mr. Nketia revealed that �there is an ongoing programme to celebrate the victory�. He took into consideration, �a before the verdict� calls by civil society groups and individuals that winner of the verdict should not celebrate, saying they shall celebrate the victory in moderation so not to incur the wrath of others, who may not be happy with their feat.
