Countries To Allow Persons With Disabilities Free Access To Education, Health And Employment

World leaders gathered at a High-Level meeting on disability and development have adopted a resolution that calls for disability-inclusive development. The resolution allows persons with disabilities opportunities to be fully included in education, health and employment opportunities. It is estimated that 15 per cent of the world's population, or one billion people, live with a disability, 80 per cent of whom live in developing countries. Stevie Wonder, United Nations Messenger of Peace, addressed the opening of the Meeting. "I have always been a man of dreams and hopes. I know that working together we can create a world where persons of disabilities face no limit, and can freely live, work, enjoy life, and contribute their talents to society. We have already accomplished so much in this regard." Mr. Wonder has been a strong advocate for persons with disabilities since 2009.
