Two Killed, Others Injured In Accident

Two people were killed and many others injured when two passenger buses on which they were travelling, collided head-on at the outskirt of Juaso in the early hours of Thursday. The two, Kofi Ankomah, 20, a driver�s mate and one Ama, believed to be in her mid-40s� died on the spot. The injured were rushed to the Juaso District Hospital where they were treated for cuts and bruises. The condition of the driver of the Hyundai Grace bus, which crashed with a Mercedes Benz Sprinter bus, is said to be critical and had been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Sandow Latebu, the Asante-Akim South District Police Commander, confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), and said the accident occurred at about 0400 hours. The Mercedes Bus rammed into the other vehicle as the driver attempted to avoid hitting an articulated truck. The bodies of the deceased had been deposited at the Yawkwei mortuary.
