1st Anniversary Of Aliu Mahamas Passing For November 9

The first anniversary celebration of the death of former Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama is scheduled for November 9, 2013. The Aliu Mahama Foundation, in conjunction with his family, is spearheading the planned anniversary. A series of activities, including a Memorial Lecture, will be held in Accra and in Tamale, where the former vice-president was laid to rest. Farouk Ali Mahama told Citi News that the anniversary was intended to build peace and unite Ghanaians. We are going to use the event to build peace and deepen unity in our country because our late father stood for peace and also he was a unifier, he submitted. He added that even though Aliu Mahama stood for the NPP, the anniversary is not going to be political and so we are going to collaborate with the government and other stakeholders to make it a national event. The late Alhaji Aliu Mahama died on November 16, 2012 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
