Junior Nurses At Korle Bu Return To Work

Junior Nurses at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have returned to work following the payment of their salary for the month of September. �Currently the cheques are ready. It was ready yesterday� spokesperson for the nurses, Diana Marfo said. The nurses on Monday embarked on a demonstration to protest delays in the payment of their salaries and allowances. Speaking to Citi News a spokesperson for the nurses, Diana Marfo who confirmed the payments as promised by the hospitals administration said that the nurses have returned to work. They said government owed them salaries and allowances covering 21 months. �At 4 O'clock most of us were called yesterday, we were called to come for the cheques. So those of us who were around, were able to go for theirs and those who were not there, have received theirs this morning� she said. She revealed that they would meet the management of the hospital in a month�s time to discuss the payment plan for the remaining 20 months. Miss Marfo was hopeful that their arrears for the past 21 months would be paid them as well.
