Despite NPP Denials - Fresh Bawumia For 2016 Posters Emerge

As the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is struggling to end internal bickering that is having far-reaching ramifications on the party, certain party persons are also embarking on an agenda over who leads the party in 2016. Fresh posters of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the twice-failed running mate of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, have popped up again in Accra as at yesterday. There had been some posters of him in the past weeks but some NPP persons claimed that it was the handiwork of the opponents of the NPP. The posters with inscription, Bawumia for 2016 were pasted on electric poles opposite the Accra psychiatric Hospital at Asylum Down in Accra. Under the posters, it has been indicated that Bawumia for 2016 was being sponsored by Friends of Bawumia. It is not clear to whether or not Dr. Bawumia, widely referred to as Nana Darling Boy is aware of any such moves by his friends. The NPP, in recent time, has been saddled with the influx of groupings pursing the agenda of certain individuals. Just last week, a group called Operation 2016 popped up at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region, calling on Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, considered the fiercest challenger to Nana Addo, to contest and lead the party in 2016. Already, there are others groups, such as Friends of Nana Addo, One Touch, and Nana Addo for 2016, among others, all doing their clandestine and, sometimes, open campaigns for their paymasters. Commuters who used the Accra Psychiatric Hospital Road yesterday could not help admiring the poster of Bawumia for 2016. Interestingly, there are credible reports pointing to the fact that some gurus of the NPP are persuading Nana Addo to contest again in 2016. In fact, The Enquirer this Wednesday reported that there are moves to make Nana Addo a compromised candidates for 2016. In both 2008 and 2012, there were lots of agitations when Nana Addo decided to have Dr. Bawumia as his running mate. Persons like Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, even went public questioning contribution of Dr. Bawumia towards the NPP. Others too were of the view that he was a not a dyed-in-the-wool NPP person because of his late fathers affiliation to the PND/NDC.
