Rect Academy Celebrates 22nd Anniversary

The board of directors and management of Rect Academy have proudly congratulated the school�s 13th batch of BECE candidates for scoring a 100% distinction in the 2013 results. The school, which is located at Kwashiebu near Santa Maria, has for the past 22 years provided a caring, friendly environment where the needs of the individual learner are recognized. Rect Academy offers an outstanding recognized curriculum and aims to attract the best teachers who model to their students a love of learning. The vision of the school is to be the top grade A private basic level bilingual school where pupils will be proficient in English, French and ICT. Since the Junior Secondary School / Junior High School was introduced some 13 years ago, Rect Academy has not only produced excellent results in the BECE but also amazing graduates who have moved on to greater heights and achievements. Some of the fantastic products out of Rect Academy include: Philip N.K. Botchway was a member of the pioneer year group of Rect Academy and was among the few who had 10 ones in the 2002 BECE. He proceeded to PRESEC-LEGON and then to KNUST in 2006, graduating with a First Class Honours - BSc. Business Administration (Banking & Finance). He was the Second Best student of his graduating class. Philip attributes his success to the training at Rect . He is currently the sole Commonwealth Scholar to the University of Dundee, studying MSc. International Business and Finance. A DISTINCTION candidate, he is optimistic of winning the Outstanding International Business student among other prizes at the Winter Graduation in November 2013. Emelia Appah Asare obtained her Basic education at Rect Academy, excelling with flying c o l o u r s u n d e r t h e d y n a m i c supervision of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lomotey. She went to Wesley Girls High School and then to the University of Ghana, continually progressing academically. Receiving various awards at the university, shegot a scholarship to pursue Msc. (Food Technology) at the Ghent University, Belgium where she has graduated with distinction. Harriet Naa Teckie enrolled into Rect Academy as a toddler in 1991. She is one of the few students who went through RECT from Cr�che to JHS. Harriet was the Science Laboratory Prefect. She went on to study General Science at Ghana National College where she represented Rect Academy as the first Rectarian. Harriet proceeded to University of Ghana in 2011. She is currently in her final year studying Marine Science. Harriet has distinguished herself greatly in her academics and won the Overall Best Science Student (Level 200) at the University. She is also the current Vice President (Academics) of Marine and Fisheries Student Association. James Korley Attuquaye attributes his burning desire for excellence to his Alma Mater Rect Academy. James completed his BECE in 2004 with flying colors and proceeded to PRESECLEGON and then to the University of Ghana, graduating with a First Class Honours in Mathematical Science (Mathematics and Statistics). James is currently at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, under the Quota Scheme full funding Scholarship, pursuing MSc. Mathematical Science (Biostatistics option). Gideon Timpabi Manu was the school prefect during the 2003/2004 academic year. He graduated from Rect scoring "ten ones" in his BECE and gained admission into Opoku Ware School. There he also excelled and gained admission into KNUST to pursue a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 2008. He graduated in 2012 with first class honours in BSc. Petroleum Engineering. He is currently a Petroleum Engineer at Tullow Ghana. Michael Thompson completed Rect Academy in 2002 with the pioneer group of students. He went to PRESECLEGON and then to the Ghana Institute of Journalism where he obtained a degree in Communication Studies (Public Relations). After his National Service, he worked with Viasat 1, the BFT and Citi FM , specializing in Aviation News. In 2012, Michael won a Tullow PLC scholarship to pursue a Master of Science degree in Air Transport Planning and Management at the University of Westminster, UK. His vision is to etch his name as one of Africa's aviation greats. Andrew Meisuh completed RECT in 2006 with distinction. He then gained admission to PRESEC, Legon. Having again passed with distinction, he pursued Biological Science at the University of Ghana. He won a joint scholarship from the Governments of Ghana and Russia and is currently a medical student in the Russian National Medical Research University. He believes that the good Christian training and the discipline at RECT has brought him this far. Samantha Asabea Asare completed Rect academy in 2007. She gained admission into Holy Child School, after scoring excellent grades in the BECE. At Holy Child she joined the Red Cross Society. Her love for humanity stayed with her even when she continued her education at Tarrant County College from 2011 to 2013. She was the Public Relations Officer of the All Eyes Health Occupation, amongst other Leadership roles. She is currently at the University of North Texas, majoring in Biochemistry and Mathematics. Samantha believes that hard-work and self-belief is essential for success, much as it is equally good to trust in the Lord in tough circumstances, a virtue which was imbibed in her by her parents in infancy. Wendy Tagoe completed Rect Academy in 2012 with Distinction and gained admission into Wesley Girls High School. She is presently pursuing General Science, aiming to become a pediatrician. Wendy attributes her passion for excellence to the training she received whilst at RECT Academy. Nii Kofi Akrashie Abbey started RECT from Creche and completed in 2012 with distinction. He served as the Senior Head Prefect. He proceeded to PRESEC, Legon where he is currently pursuing General Science. A philanthropic individual by nature, he has great ambition and a passion for giving back to society in the near future.
