President John Dramani Mahama 's directive for pre-paid meters to be installed in the residences of ministers and government appointees would take effect in the last week of October.
Government would also from next week ensure that no minister or government official uses vehicles after official working hours.
Mr Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, a Deputy Minister for Information and Media Relations, said this during the daily media briefing at the Flagstaff House, Kanda on Tuesday.
Last week President Mahama directed that all utility companies should install pre-paid meters in the residences of ministers and government appointees.
The President also directed that all government vehicles should be re-numbered and parked after official working hours.
The Deputy Minister said the implementation would help to streamline and eliminate the perennial burdens on utility companies in the country.
He said an Administrator General had been appointed to ensure that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies compiled comprehensive reports on all government vehicles in their possession.
Mr Kwakye-Ofosu said apart from that, the Administrator General would also put in place a tracking system that would manage and keep track of all government vehicles throughout the country.
He gave the assurance that an effective monitoring system would be put in place to check the abuse of government property and to ensure that government officials paid their bills.
