The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama, has donated food items to the Anfaani and Tamale children�s home both in Tamale as part of her commitment to orphanages in the country. The items include; rice, sugar, cooking oil, milk, diapers, Milo, chocolate and assorted drinks and clothing. Donating the items, the first lady said: �this is in keeping with my commitment towards the wellbeing of the children here.� Mrs Mahama, a philanthropist, has regularly donated items to orphanages as part of her commitments to providing them with their needs. She has over the years, committed her time and resources to supporting care homes. Across the country she supports seven (7) orphanages: Anfaani Children's Home, Tamale Children's Home all in Tamale; Frank May Orphanages Home and Let Kids Smile in Techiman, Bethsaida Orphanage in Nkoranza, Osu and Frafraha Children's Homes in Accra. The supervisor of the Tamale Children's Home, expressed her gratitude to the First Lady and praised her for the generosity shown towards them over the years. She described the First Lady as a "kind hearted woman� but like Oliver Twist, they will continue to ask for more. She appealed to the First Lady not to abandon them. �I will never abandon you.� Mrs Mahama responded. Aside being the First lady of Ghana, she is also the National President of a non-governmental organization, Lordina Foundation, dedicated to orphans and the vulnerable in society.
