FAGRO Opens Today

The fifth edition of the National Food and Agriculture Show (FAGRO) will opened today at the Efua Sutherland Park in Accra. From today October 24th � Monday October 28, the Efua Sutherland Park will be the grounds to showcase Ghana�s rich agricultural potential. This year�s theme �Linking Trade, Export and Agriculture: the value chain process� will help highlight specific agricultural policies that falls short and needs to be adjusted to generate positive impact for smallholders. This year�s theme will also help to establish and maintain a value chain process that has the farmer at heart. It also seeks to provide alternative measures in ensuring that all actors in the agric sector especially small-holder farmers benefit fully from their hard work. High profile guest from government including The Ghana�s Energy and Petroleum Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi, Food and Agriculture Minister, Clement Kofi Humado, Agric innovators and thinkers will take various turns to draw attention to farmers� constraints such as an effective lack of access to production inputs and efficient produce markets, new technologies such as improved seed varieties and agro-chemicals. FAGRO is by far the most important food and agricultural marketing platform in Ghana and derives its success from highly specialized innovations; such as seminars and exhibitions. Among many activities at the fairgrounds this year include; Daily exhibitions of agric products, machinery, equipment etc, Field demonstration on irrigation and green house farming technology and roundtable discussions and debates on agric finance, trade and export. �Come and meet with various agric businesses, establish new contacts and shop for food stuffs at low cost, direct from farmers,� says FAGRO Exhibition Director, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa. She added that as an annual show, FAGRO has set itself apart as the only agric fair in the country that provides the platform for farmers and participants to network, form strategic partnerships and learn modern techniques of agricultural marketing, the appropriate and modern use of farming technology and also farm business management such as laws and policies, accessing land, water, effective production services, resource management and conversation practices.
