Prez Mahama Must Heed To Kintampo Ghosts Calls

As the Paago Royal family of the Dega also known as Mo traditional Council in the Kintampo North Municipal Assembly prepare to finally lay to rest the late Joseph Collins Atta Kofi, Assembly member for the Mansra/Gbwere Electoral Area in the Municipality on Sunday 3rd November, 2013 in Kintampo, it is the wish of the family that the abandoned central road would be given a relook by the President and his cabinet as its abandonment has claimed several lives including that of their beloved. According to the Hon J.K Bomfeh (former MCE of the Assembly) who spoke on behalf of the family, the abandonment of the road has caused several accidents and claimed so many lives and thus required serious governmental intervention. It is worthy of note that the speedy construction of the road was a campaign pledge from Prez Mahama himself to the people of Kintampo during the 2012 electioneering campaign. Unfortunately there is no sign of the road coming under the consideration of the Government any time soon. How many more lives are we going to lose as a result of a poor and abandoned road network?, Mr. Bomfeh lamented. Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr, Kabila who is also a brother of the deceased has on countless occasions appealed to government to consider the road as if he knew it could lead to the death of his brother. The death of the Assembly man sparked the youth of Kintampo into rioting and burning of tyres in the middle of the road on that fateful Tuesday. It took the intervention of a joint Military/Police team to calm the irate youth. Reports were rife that the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Hon Stephen Kunsu was nearly lynched by the mob when he went to the accident scene. Citizens of Kintampo from across the political divide including the leadership of the NDC have expressed worry and disgust at the insensitive neglect of the road in the middle of the centre of Ghana. We hope that the spirit of Atta Kofi and all those who met their untimely death from the neglect of the road would speak from hades to Prez Mahama and we pray that may he would heed their call since the calls from the living have fallen on deaf ears, quipped a youth leader in Kintampo.
