Blame Mahama For Increase In Corruption Cases - PC Appiah Ofori

Anti-corruption campaigner, PC Appiah Ofori says President Mahama should be held solely responsible for the increase in corruption within the public sector since he has failed to sanction government officials implicated in such cases. as I have said, it is the duty of the head of state, to detect all these things periodically the President must be held responsible. If the Heads of State are not ready to rid the country of corruption, it will go on unabated, he said. The latest corruption perception index report issued by Gallup ranked Ghana the third most perceived corrupt country among 129 countries with free press. Ghana scored 89 percent behind Czech Republic and Lithuania. The latest Gallup poll was conducted between April and May 2012 on perception of countries with free and limited press around world and the Gallup report comes on the back of series of investigative reports pointing to corruption in various sectors. Ghana has also seen one corruption scandal after the other with the latest involving the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Subah Infosolutions. Speaking to Citi News PC Appiah Ofori said Ghana will soon top the chart of corrupt countries if nothing is done to deter those indicted in reports on corruption cases. For as long as this act continuous, corruption will slip from bad to worse and universally Ghana will be seen as a major corrupt, he stated.
