Greater Accra NDC Reinstate Leeford Quarshie

The Greater Accra Regional Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revoked the dismissal of Mr Leeford Quarshie from the party. A letter signed by the Regional Secretary, Mr Aristo Aryee, and sent to Mr Quarshie, said the decision was taken at a meeting of the regional executive committee, during which members unanimously resolved to revoke your dismissal from the party. This follows the acceptance of your letter of apology and your sincere remorse in that letter, the revocation letter stated and added that we hope you have learnt your lesson and you would be of good conduct henceforth. Mr Quarshie contested and lost the Korle-Klottey Constituency primary of the NDC prior to Election 2012. He later raised issues with the process, and not satisfied with the reaction of the constituency and regional executive, threatened to contest the 2012 Parliamentary Election as an independent candidate. He followed through with his threat and vied for the seat as an independent parliamentary candidate, but lost. He was subsequently expelled from the NDC. Later in an interview, Mr Aryee confirmed the letter and added that as a family it was decided that if Mr Quarshie had repented from his sins and shown remorse, there was the need to offer him the opportunity to contribute his quota to the progress of the party.
