Even Angels Can't Solve Ghana's Problems - Kakra Essamuah

A communications team member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kakra Essamuah, has reiterated governments commitment to delivering a Better Ghana. He said the problems confronting the nation are so enormous that even an angel will have difficulties solving it. Kakra Essamuah was commenting on the urgent call by the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood for men of integrity in the country. Speaking at the 18th edition of the annual Ghana Journalist Awards at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra over the weekend, the Chief Justice bemoaned the level of corruption in the country and underscored the need to nip it in the bud. But on Asempa FMs Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Kakra Essamuah said Ghana has a lot of men of integrity. There are plenty men of integrity in politics, business, academia, religious circles and ordinary citizens capable of doing it. He said Ghanaians are unduly critical of ourselves which I find extremely unfortunate because if you look at prison population, Ghana is better than the United States. I am not saying Ghana is heaven, but it is not a country of only thieves and criminals. There are many good human beings in this country doing their work with dignity and integrity. The NDC man noted that government has instituted measures to fight corruption in all sectors of the economy. Kakra Essamuah urged Ghanaians to be patient with President Mahama to execute his work assiduously. On the contrary, the immediate past Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea pooh poohed Kakras claims. He intimated that the reported cases of financial impropriety in major government institutions coupled with what he describes as create, loot and share syndrome creates a deficiency of integrity. Why wont there be a deficiency of integrity when people are appointed to manage public affairs because they contributed to party campaign he quizzed. Nana Akomea said the Chief Justice hit the nail right on the head because I cannot vouch for the integrity of anyone especially in government.
