First National Savings and Loans Ltd has introduced Internet banking services to enhance its service delivery with convenience, safety and fast banking for customers. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of First National, Mr Patrick Anumel, mentioned some of the E-banking products as Mpos, which was the device used in their branchless banking; automated teller machines (ATMs), E-Zwich services, SMS banking and electronic statements (E-statement). The CEO said the purpose of pursuing the E-banking products was to provide their customers with alternative delivery channels, adding they dont have to come to the banking hall at all times for them to access basic banking services. The Head of Banking Supervision Department of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Mr Franklin Belnye, commended the company for taking steps towards enhancing the quality of the countrys banking services. He added that continuing technological innovation and competition among existing banking institutions and new entrants had allowed for the supply of a wider array of banking products and services to retail and wholesale customers through various electronic distribution channels, collectively referred to as E-banking.
