It appears Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a former Ghana Ambassador to Serbia and Montnegro, wants to forever be in the bad books of his party. His recent comment on the �Vickyleaks� saga is sure to court the displeasure of the NPP. He has described as needless and "unnecessary" the call by his party for the Chief Justice, Georgina Wood to as a matter of urgency, investigate the allegation to exonerate the judiciary from the issue. To him, so far as Nana Oye Lithur, he considers to be "a responsible person" has denied claims that she influenced the verdict of the election petition, it should end the matter. The NPP, in a statement issued last Friday, called on the Chief Justice to investigate claims by the dismissed deputy Communications Minister, Victoria Hammah that government influenced the 2012 presidential election petition. The beleaguered former deputy minister, in a secret recording, was allegedly heard saying a minister in the Mahama-led administration played a key role in the Supreme Court decision, that validated the presidency of John Mahama in an election petition suit they were confident of winning. The statement, signed by Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John, expressed �shocked at the damning revelations made by, now former Deputy Minister of Communications, Victoria Hammah that the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition delivered by Justice William Atuguba on the 29th of August was influenced by the government of President John Dramani Mahama�. Adding that, �The NPP is calling on the Chief Justice to, as a matter of urgency; institute a commission to probe the judgement of the 9 Supreme Court judges in the wake of these revelations by Victoria Hammah�. But Nyaho-Tamakloe says there is no need for any investigation. "Now that the minister (Oye Lithur) has responded the case should be dead and buried," he said. Meanwhile, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection Nana Oye Lithur, has in a statement issued over the weekend, vehemently denied claims by Victoria Hammah that she influenced the verdict of the 2012 election petition. "The allegation is untrue and preposterous�For the avoidance of doubt, I have never met, communicated or had any discussion with any judge with a view to influencing the outcome of the presidential election petition," the minister strongly maintained. In a related development, the Chief Justice is set to look into claims the 2012 Election Petition judgment was politically influenced. This was after the NPP petitioned the CJ demanding a judicial enquiry into comments by former Deputy Communications Minister, Victoria Hammah on a leaked secret recording that a colleague minister � Nana Oye Lithur -played a role in the Supreme Court judgment that affirmed John Mahama as winner of the 2012 polls. The Judicial Secretary, Alex Opoku Acheampong, who confirmed this, said the petition will be examined.
