Sofoline Interchange Project Suspended

Effective Friday, November 15, work on the Kumasi Sofoline interchange will be suspended temporarily. The construction firm in charge of the project, China Geo Corporation, says although the government is committed to the project, the current economic conditions of the country are making it difficult for funds to be released for the project. The interchange, which will be the biggest in West Africa when completed, has been hit with several delays due to inadequate funds. The Deputy Resident engineer Francis Kofi Yankey, who spoke to XYZ NEWS, said the construction firm was left with no option but to send all workers home until funds are made available for the continuation of the project.
