Harry Sawyer Lived A Fulfilled Life-Speaker Of Parliament

Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, Speaker on Friday said the passing on of the late Harry Sawyer though painful, needed to be celebrated because he had lived a fulfilled life after crossing the Biblical age of 70 to 87 years. He recalled his interactions with the late Sawyer, who he regarded as his mentor during their school days in Accra Academy and his active participation in politics. Mr Adjaho, who was accompanied by other members from the majority and minority side said �what we have to do is to immortalize the name of the former Education Minister at a befitting time, adding that, Parliament would pay a befitting tribute to the late statesman. Nana Kwame Ansah, who spoke on behalf of the family, said the late Sawyer passed on a week ago at the Korle- Bu Teaching Hospital after he was taken ill. Prof. Basil Lokko, Head of the family thanked the Speaker and his entourage for taking time off their busy schedule to express their condolences. He said at the appropriate time the family would visit Parliament to express their gratitude. The widow, Mrs Esther Sawyer and other family members clouded in mourning clothes were seated outside the House.
