Plea From Vickys Family To Mahama; Typical Of Ghanaians Former MP

Ghanaians are peculiar people. Some of the things that make us different from people from other parts of the world is our culture. It is also easy to tell one is a Ghanaian by our reference to every male as charley or the snapping of the fingers after a handshake. But a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Swedru is of the view that the plea by family of family deputy Minister of Communications, Victoria Hammah, depicts the character of a typical Ghanaian. Hon. Ampoma Bosompem, who has had vast experience in the public sector, explained to Adakabre Frimpong Manso, host of Me Man Nti on NEAT FM that, when someone is appointed a Chief Director or something, friends and family come around to visit him and all they say is that, we are fortunate. no one thinks of the responsibilities that come with the position, like, improvement in the education, health, agriculture and industry but all that is on their minds is the fortune their friend could amass, by virtue of his position, she said. The former Law Maker made this disclosure during a round table discussion on the call by the family and friends of the ousted deputy Communications Minister, Victoria Hammah, for President Mahama to reconsider his decision of dismissing her from his administration. Ms. Hammah was heard in a secretly recorded tape indicating that she would not start a political fight with anyone if she does not have $1 million dollars sitting in her account. The President swiftly relieved Victoria Hammah of her post, less than 24hours after NEAT FM first aired the tape. However, Madam Nimo, the grandmother of Ms. Hammah, amidst shedding of tears, pleaded with President Mahama to rescind his decision in a telephone interview with NEAT FM. I have been having sleepless night after the dismissal of my granddaughter, and plead with the President to forgive Victoria and reinstate her, even not at the same ministry, Madam Nimo pleaded. The former Akyem Swedru MP maintains that the plea by the family of Victoria Hammah depicts the true Ghanaian culture.
