Kwesimintsim NDC Crumbling Over GH4,000 Waakye

Alhaji Nii Markwei Dawda, the Kwesimintsim constituency propaganda secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has told Daily Guide that there is no way NDC can win the Kwesimintsim and Effia constituencies in any general elections if the Effia constituency chairman of the party, Mohammed Alidu continues to be in office. So far as Mohammed Alidu continues to remain in office, mark my words, there is no way NDC can win in these two constituencies in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis, he alleged. It would be recalled that the Kwesimintsim propaganda secretary of the NDC recently made some startling revelations to the effect that Mr Alidu allegedly pocketed an amount of GH24,000 meant for the biometric registration exercise prior to the 2012 elections but credited waakye to the tune of GH4,000. The Kwesimintsim and Effia constituencies are currently being occupied by Joe Baidoo Ansah and Joseph Cudjoe of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) respectively. The two constituencies used to be Effia-Kwesimintsim and the NDC won that seat in 1992 but since then the NPP had been winning in subsequent elections even when it was split into two ahead of last years polls. Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, the NDC propaganda secretary attributed the inability of the NDC to recapture Effia and Kwesimintsim constituencies to the deep internal wrangling that had been in the party for the past 14 years. He alleged that the cause of the internal strife in the party was chairman Alidu who he said was only occupying the position for his selfish interest. Alhaji Dawda told DAILY GUIDE that after losing the Effia-Kewsimintsim seat in 1996, there had been some credible party activists who contested but lost because chairman Alidu allegedly squandered the money meant for campaign to enable the party to win the seat again. He noted that in the year 2000, for instance, the Effia-Kwesimintsim NDC had the finest candidate, one Kweku Christian who had just returned from abroad but he lost because the chairman allegedly sat on the money meant for campaign. One Mr. Ambruce also came after Kweku Christian and we lost again because Alidu was the chairman and did not make available resources for campaign, he alleged. He mentioned that when the Effia-Kwesimintsim constituency was divided into two, Alidu was made the chairman for Effia while one Abraham Cissey was elected chairman for Kwesimintsim. But to my surprise, Alidu is still meddling in the affairs of the Kwesimintsim constituency to the extent that he could take an amount of GH24,000 meant for the biometric registration exercise in Kwesimintsim and credit waakye to the tune GH4,000 in the name of the Kwesimintsim constituency, he added He stressed: The woes of the NDC in the Effia and Kwesimintsim constituencies will deepen come 2016. It is not my wish for the NDC to lose and lose badly, but because people want to carry out their own agenda at the expense of credible and competent people working tirelessly for the party without any remuneration. He said the party had lost many of its sympathisers in the constituency due to internal wrangling, adding that Mr Alidu had always been saying that the reward for politics should be on earth. I am praying that Alidu will be changed in the next constituency executive elections. Already the signs are clear that people want a change and I urge them to wait patiently for the D-day so that Chairman Alidu could be push aside to move the party forward in the two constituencies, Alhaji Dawda remarked.
