The Finance Minister said despite the enormous challenges facing the Single Spine Salary Pay Policy, government remains committed to sustaining it. He said government is committed to the passage of the Compensation Bill to help address the challenge. He said government will from next year issue a white paper on market premium which will lead to the cancellation of some market premiums paid to some public sector workers which may not be in consonance with the white paper directive. Government will also replace the book and research allowance paid to teachers in the tertiary institutions with a research facility.
