Donning Mahama Customized TShirts At Stadium: Its CrudeThis is the 21st Century

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu, has slammed the Sports Ministry and the Mahama-led government to "bow their heads in shame" for distributing Mahama customized T-shirts to a group of supporters who were airlifted to Egypt. Before the Egypt-Ghana second leg clash, which saw Black Stars chalk a magnificent feat to book Ghana's place in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil; there were unconfirmed reports that some supporters will don T-shirts with the image of President John Mahama emblazoned on it. The grapevine report turned out to be true when cameras at the 30th June stadium captured jubilant supporters clad in the alleged "Mahama T-shirt" ecstatically celebrating when Black Stars striker Kelvin Prince Boateng scored in the last minute of the game. Adding her voice to what some critics have termed "unfortunate" on the part of the government to project the image of the President instead of the nation, the NPP MP posited on Oman FM's political analysis programme that government officials goofed for allowing the supporters to don such T-shirts at the stadium. She noted that such move could introduce political divisions into the sports fabric of the nation and so, cautioned the government not to ride on the success of the Black Stars to promote itself. "Its your deeds and your fruit that will make people dignify you. Its not by forcefully ingraining your photographs everywhere and placing your statue anywhere that will announce the integrity of the President. Thats crudeWeve moved on. This is the 21st Century. This is the age of the internet, she opined.
