Prez Mahama Has Secretly Increased His Allowances And Publicly Decreased His Pay

As part of measures taken by government to address the challenges of Ghanaians, President John Mahama, his Vice, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur and all government appointees would have a 10 per cent salary cut for the year 2014, the Minister of Finance, Seth Terkper has said. Presenting the governments 2014 Budget Statement and Economic Policy under the theme, Rising to the Challenge: Re-aligning the Budget to meet Key National Priorities, Mr. Terkper stated that broad policy initiatives in this budget have been designed to enable us consolidate our middle income status and deal with the new challenges of financing our development. But an aspiring National Organizer for the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Hopeson Adorye believes it is a step in the wrong direction. In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Mr. Adorye likened the 10% salary cut for the president and his ministers to a buy one and get one free promotion. He alleged that President Mahama and his ministers had secretly increased their allowances and per diem which is more than the 10% cut, and come out to publicly state that they have cut down their salaries. He challenged the president to disclose the amount he takes as allowance before painting a caring picture.
