Two Jailed 35 Years For Cocaine Iimport

A Ghanaian and his Guyanese accomplice have been handed prison terms of 15 and 20 years respectively for importing cocaine into Ghana. The High Court in Accra which convicted Seth Grant, the Ghanaian and Miller Ronald O�Neil, his Guyanese accomplice and Captain of the Guyanese ship �ATIYAH, George-Town� aboard which the narcotic was seized, handed the sentences on the guilty pleas of the convicts. They pleaded guilty to engaging in criminal conspiracy to commit an offence by engaging in business relating to narcotic drugs; importation of narcotic drugs without lawful authority and possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority. Three other suspects - Perceval Curt, Samuel Mornty and Saint Praimchad who were arrested along with the convicts would face full trial beginning January 10 after pleading not guilty to the same charges. The seized cocaine is said to have a street value of 50 million dollars.
