Two officers of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) have been arrested in connection with the death of their colleague at Matakeho in Tema. Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACOI), Kofi Owusu of the Enforcement Unit at the Ministry of Interior and Mr Elvis Hesse of the Immigration Headquarters are currently in police custody. The Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Commissioner of Police (COP), Mr Prosper Agblor, who confirmed the arrest of the two in an interview,said the suspects were being interrogated. He declined to give further details. On December 30, 2013, a 36-year-old immigration officer, Kofi Quist Defor, was shot and killed by unidentified persons at his residence at Mataheko in Tema. Defor was shot in his living room around 3 a.m. despite pleas by his wife, Ms Kafui Mary Magdalene Tamakloe to the assailants to wait for her to go upstairs and bring them money if that was their reason for attacking her husband. The suspects, however, were said to have ignored the request of Ms Tamakloe and killed her husband. The killers took away his laptop, Ipad and two mobile phones.
