Ningo-Prampram Unite For Development

After months of tension between the people of Ningo and Prampram over the location of the district capital of the newly created Ningo-Prampram District in 2012, the chiefs and people of the twin town have finally united to pursue a common development agenda. As a result, some of the roads in Ningo which had never seen any facelift for years are being rehabilitated and one of such roads is the 12km Old Ningo to Ayetepa road. Construction of major drains from Ahwiam to Ayetepa is ongoing and residents of Ningo have expressed delight at the development. Nene Atsure Benta III, the Mankralo and Senior Divisional Chief of the Prampram Traditional Council, told The Finder in an interview that whatever happened between Ningo and Prampram was now history, hence the beginning of the good things happening at Ningo. According to him, Ningo-Prampram was now fighting for a common agenda, adding that their ranks have been closed to anybody who would attempt creating a wedge between them. He said, There were fights over the naming of the new international airport to be cited in the area. We dont have any problem should the airport be named Ningo International Airport because our paramount interest is to see the airport built in the Ningo-Prampram District. That way, he said, the entire name of the district would be captured on the worlds international aviation map and for us that is going to attract investors and development to the two towns. Nene Benta III charged unemployed but hardworking youth of the district to venture into employable skills training as the area gears itself up to welcome the construction of the international airport, which would bring with it other artisanal job opportunities. He promised to continue his personal engagement with the youth of Prampram on the need to remain focused and eschew vices such as unauthorised land grabbing and selling, and stealing.
